Artemis Fowl

Artemis Fowl Book

Rating: 4 Thrills

Book CoverThe evil ways of the Mud People, or humans, have forced the fairies in Ireland to move underground to live. Artemis Fowl is a criminal genius, and twelve years old as well, who comes from a long line of famous Irish criminals. He has learned the secrets of who and where the fairies are from the Internet. He decides to try and steal the gold from the fairies to bring glory back to his family, with some help from his trusty sidekicks. He manages to trick a fairy into letting him see a copy of the Fairies' book with all their history and spells. His plan involves kidnapping a fairy and holding it for a ransom, which is the gold. Captain Holly Short, the kidnapping target, is a member of the LEPrecon (Lower Elements Police Reconnaissance) Unit. Her boss, and Commander Root, shows up to get Holly back. The fairies use all the technology at their disposal to try and stop Artemis and get Holly back. During the course of the story, a lot of myths about fairies and mystical creatures are put to rest, as this is not a story about pixie dust or Tinkerbell. Can the fairies stop Artemis Fowl? Can they keep their gold? Will they save Holly from Artemis? Read Artemis Fowl to find out!

Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident

Artemis Fowl Book

Rating: 4 Thrills

Book CoverA year older than in the previous book, Artemis has captured the fairy gold in an earlier adventure and is rich now, and his mother's health has returned. However, his father, super adventurer Artemis Fowl, Sr, has disappeared while trying to change his family's future. He was captured by the Russian Mafiya and has been held captive for two years and recently was declared dead. Artemis knows his father is not dead, especially after he gets an email letting him know that, and he decides to find and save him. Enter Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon (Lower Elements Police Reconnaissance) squad, who is bored with her current assignment (given to her because she allowed Artemis to steal her people's gold) and the two team up once again. The two must stop a pixie from taking over a world, then get to the Arctic in the world where Artemis' father is held and attempt to rescue him. Nothing ever goes smoothly for them and they must use magic, devise gadgets, and use technology to do what they need. One problem - while they are trying to save worlds and rescue people, someone is trying to get to them and stop them. Can they rescue Artemis Fowl, Sr? Can they stay alive? Will they be able to do everything they need and make some new friends along the way? Read Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident to find out!
